Father’s Day Weekend *

I’ve got the hang of it….I think! :)

Drake has told me how to post pics and I cannot stay focused, so tonight I wrote it all down. We are just fine and are really enjoying our summer with Karlie. Bubba, Drake’s dad, stayed the night last night and today we all traveled to see granny in Waco. We enjoyed everyone, especially Papa’s visit! Karlie can say Papa, baba (Chinese for daddy), and of course Mama. She also knows her name and says Karlie, Karlie, Karlie with her finger in her mouth when she is really sleepy, so, so cute. You have to hear it to believe it, but it’s true! We ate at McAllisters and made a trip to Target! Drake has to work in the office tomorrow so we are working on a new wallpaper type message for her room that I think will look great, I’ll put pics up if it turns out! Here are some recent pics of our girl. Her hair is really growing and she is really a character! Thanks for the well wishes and continued prayers! Ya’ll come and visit us!!!

June 1–more china pics

Sorry it took so long for us to update our blog. We both are back teaching now so it is hard to find time. When we get home we want to play and love on Karlie, which leaves little time for blogging. But we only have 2.5 more school days, so we can do better soon. 1st trip to Church!

Sunday, June 1st was Karlie’s first trip to church. We attended FBC Killeen and she did really well, until the preacher started his sermon. Then she decided to talk and babble and coo. Karlie and daddy listened from the foyer……She loved the singing, but we are not sure the Baptist appreciated her dancing to all the songs……Here is what she wore……and one more zoo pic……

She’s asleep!

It’s been awhile since we posted anything and we have a chance tonight! Karlie had an eventful day today as she picked out lots of new things at Babies-R-Us in Austin (thanks Fowler). She had a blowout at Schlotsky’s and messed up my shirt and my pants…ugh!! Luckily i had another outfit for Karlie, but i was stuck with poopy clothes the rest of the day. We think that it is the formula change that she’s gettting used to. We bought a jumper today and it just swallows her, but she seems to enjoy it for the most part. She rocks more than jumps, but she’ll get the idea the more we put her in it. We also got her an excersaucer that the dr. suggested. She has a flat head and she needs to be up and active as much as possible. She did a lot of laying around while she was in the orphanage. She has now moved from Kangaroo milk…ha! (Chinese formula) to Similac. Her dr apt went well yesterday and she weighed 15.7 lbs. and was 25.5 inches long. She only needed one shot and she didn’t cry for too long. She is very little and is in the 5th percentileof kids her age. Hopefully she will get bigger and stronger on this new formula. We will also introduce veggies too. She is such a sweetie and always has a smile for us! We are so thankful that her transition with us has been this smooth. Except for sleeping through the night she is doing wonderfully. We are having difficulty posting pics at this point, but will give it another whirl tomorrow. Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers, we really appreciate it!

You don’t know how glad we were to wake up in Texas this morning! Visiting China for 18 days was the trip of a lifetime, and we came home with our baby too. But finally sleeping in our own bed was wonderful. I will now post pics in the reverse order of our trip. So tonight’s pics are from our last 2 days in Beijing. We toured the Great Wall, Forbidden City, and Tian’ an Men Square all on Thursday May 8. It was the clearest day full of blue skies. We hadn’t seen blue sky in 2 weeks because of smog.
