Almost a year!

July 31, 2008

11 months today!

Karlie turned 11 months today!  She is growing like a weed too.  She is doing better getting around, but still hasn’t mastered crawling yet.  She can pivot around and around and scoots on her back by digging her heels in the ground.  We are hoping she’ll be crawling soon…but maybe we should enjoy her non-crawling as much as possible.  She is very independent and very very vocal.  She is finally saying dada, or shall I say screaming it most days…  Her hair is growing, but still straight up instead of flat on her head.  Drake hates when I put lotion on it to tame it b/c he says she looks like poindexter…ha.  She is tolerating my fixing it now though a little more than before.  We are hoping to drop her off for a half day to stay with the lady who’ll be keeping her during the school year sometime next week for a trial run.  I really dread having to leave her, but I think it will be good for her to be around other kids for a change.  She likes kids and stares everytime she sees one when we’re out.  I’m sure it has to do with her having been in the orphange for the first months of her life.  Here are some pics of the last couple of days.  She still makes her funny face most of the time you ask her too and always when the camera is on her at least for one picture or two.  I added a pic of her room where I added a wallpaper type lettering.  I think it turned out pretty good, although the texture made it hard to stick.    Enjoy your day!

Our Growing Little Sunshine…

July 21, 2008

Karlie is really growing and surprising us more and more with new “tricks” each day! She is currently “cheesing it up” for the camera on a regular basis as seen in some of these pics. She has also mastered yes, no and shrugging her shoulders….so cute. We are still working on crawling and she is starting to hold her bottle and drinks from a cup really well. We love her so much!

New Pictures?

I posted new pics today, but you can’t see them unless you click on the right side (All American Wild Sleeping Beauty)…don’t know what I did to screw things up!

Fun Summer Times

July 7, 2008

Boy, this summer is really flying by. I can hardly believe it’s already July. We have had a busy, but fun summer so far. Some of the pictures include Cate’s 2nd birthday (Karlie’s first time @ a party), Linda and Karlie at the volleyball tournament on the 4th, Julie and Karlie at Kirk and Jana’s (4th), Pre church dress up, mohawk time!

Drake hates when I mess with Karlie’s hair. I love to fix it all different ways, although she doesn’t like to have bows or hats of any kind. Oh yeah, we had portraits taken in Teague on Wed. They should be ready for online viewing soon. I can’t wait. Karlie did well and they’ll surely be super cute!

We went and had some bloodwork done last week as suggested by our agency and Karlie screamed bloody murder both days….yes, both days b/c they couldn’t get anything out of her little veins on the first day and the rubber band they had around her arm nearly killed us all…the next day two different ladies attempted it in a room instead of the lab and they got what they needed in the first try….of course she screamed bloody murder then too. It was really hard on mommy and daddy! Her little arm is still red and bruised from the rubber band and needle pokes! She weighs 18.5 lbs, but hasn’t gained any length from her last visit at 25 inches…dr. says ok. She eats anything and everything and we have started her on veggies mixed with meat.

We are having to search for a new vehicle b/c Karlie’s stuff takes up all the room and Drake no longer has room to carry his fishing poles and tackle in my car anymore. Plus, the carseat takes up a lot of room in the backseat and Drake and I are both sitting uncomfortably in the front seat…I sit by Karlie though usually!

Karlie had an eventful first Fourth of July visiting with everyone in mine and Drake’s family. Drake’s cousin and her husband have a nice place with a pool and we all went swimming and Karlie loved it. I couldn’t get comfortable with her in the water, I was nervous most of the time even though she was on a little raft of a thing. She enjoyed floating around with Aunt Barbie, Uncle Trent and Courtney. Linda, Lori and Kendra also shared some special splashes with our little “Nemo.”

Each new day Karlie seems to do something new and is still quick to mimic most sounds and gestures. Drake is still working on her saying Dada, but it still hasn’t come. She is saying Papa and Baba (Chinese for daddy), so Drake says it counts ;) This week we’ll have some time here at home and hopefully get some cleaning and laundry done. More later!
